Barb Krause

Senior Legal Counsel

Before joining Singularity University, Barb represented leading entrepreneurs, investors and lending institutions for nearly 15 years through AMLAW 100 law firms as in-house counsel and as a solo practitioner. Initially as a corporate finance lawyer with top-tier global law firms (Bryan Cave, DLA Piper and Bingham McCutchen), Barb focused her practice on debt and equity finance, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate concerns. Barb shifted her focus to represent emerging growth companies at the forefront of community-led change through her own practice, specializing in entity formation, best board practices, compliance, debt and equity finance, employment and equity incentives, intellectual property protection and licensing, commercial contracts, M&A and general business counseling. Barb has worked in-house on a project basis and as outside general counsel to leading Bay Area public and private companies throughout her career.

Barb extends her impact in the startup and social venture community by teaching and mentoring legal and business professionals. Barb provides legal and financial focused research and counseling to Santa Clara University’s Center for Science, Technology and Society as an Executive Fellow and as a content lead mentor to the GSBI accelerator. Barb is adjunct professor at the University’s Law School where she leads law students representing GSBI accelerator alumnae preparing for financings and other large transactions through the Entrepreneurs’ Law Clinic. Barb also serves on the advisory board of the German American Business Association, Women in Business subgroup.

Barb received her B.A. and her M.A. from Kansas University and her J.D. from Cornell.

When she’s not working with great social entrepreneurs, you can find her with her husband, her daughter, her two sons or the family Golden Retriever.
